BTN Import & Export supplies Nilgiris tea sourced directly from established tea factories in and around Gudalur — the same processing houses that have supplied the Nilgiris tea trade for decades. Rather than buying through blenders or auction re-sellers, we procure our stock straight from the factory floor, which means we can tell you exactly which estate, which season, and which grade you're buying — not just "Nilgiri tea" as an anonymous blend.

The Nilgiris is one of the only tea-growing regions in India that harvests almost year-round, thanks to its mild high-altitude climate. But not every month produces the same cup. Between December and March, the hills turn cold enough that the tea plants slow their growth dramatically — some nights the temperature drops close to freezing on the higher slopes. That cold stress is what serious tea buyers actually pay attention to: slower growth concentrates the aromatic compounds inside each leaf, producing a noticeably more fragrant, complex cup than tea picked during the fast monsoon growth months. This winter-season tea is sometimes called "frost tea" in the trade, and it's the batch we recommend to anyone buying for quality rather than just volume.

We offer both orthodox (whole-leaf, slow-processed for flavour) and CTC (crush-tear-curl, for a stronger everyday brew) tea, so you can choose based on whether you're buying for a specialty retail shelf or for everyday bulk supply.

Why Buy Nilgiris Tea from BTN Import & Export?

"Why not just buy from a bigger tea brand?" Bigger brands blend tea from multiple estates and seasons to keep a consistent taste year-round — which is good for predictability, but it means you never really know what you're drinking. We sell tea in the season it was actually picked, from the factory we actually bought it from. You get to know what you're buying, not just a brand name.

"How do I know this is actually from Gudalur and not relabelled tea from somewhere else?" We buy directly from tea factories operating in Gudalur — we're not a reseller sourcing through Coimbatore or Chennai traders. If you're a wholesale or export buyer, we can share the factory and batch details for any order, the same traceability approach we use for our honey and spices.

"Is this the same tea I'd get from a supermarket brand, just cheaper?" No — supermarket tea is almost always CTC dust blended for a strong, cheap everyday cup. We offer that too, but we also carry orthodox whole-leaf tea and can supply winter-season (frost) batches when available, which most supermarket brands don't carry at all because the volumes are too small for their scale. If you want a genuinely better cup, not just a cheaper one, that's what we're set up for.

"Can you supply consistent quality for repeat/bulk orders?" Yes — because we work directly with a small number of known factories rather than buying opportunistically from open-market auctions, we can commit to consistent sourcing for recurring wholesale orders, and flag in advance when a particular grade or season's batch is running low.

"Do you sell in bulk or just retail packs?" Both. We supply retail-size packs for direct consumers and bulk quantities (by the kg, with custom packaging) for wholesale, retail store, and export buyers.
