While Tamil Nadu's best-known turmeric hub is Erode, further south, Nilgiris-grown turmeric has its own character: the hill soil and cooler climate here produce a rhizome with a distinct colour and aroma compared to plains-grown turmeric, and because we buy directly from a small number of known farms, we can guarantee it hasn't been mixed or bulked up with turmeric from elsewhere.
Our turmeric is harvested, sun-dried, and then ground — traditionally, without the high-heat industrial grinding that big commercial mills use, which can strip away some of the natural aroma and colour.
